Two small graves in a tiny plot surrounded by a metal fence. The plot is on the I Street side of the cemetery.

This is a very satisfying project…I always enjoy cleaning graves of infants and children, since the gravestone is often one of the few original sources for research.

Thomas Spease and Cora Boles were married in King, NC (Stokes County) in the spring of 1905. Between 1908 and 1910, they moved to North Wilkesboro with their sons Hanie and Wray. Tom worked as a locomotive fireman and Cora kept house. They lived on C Street in North Wilkesboro.

The two infant daughters who died in 1911 and 1912 are both buried in the plot that we are cleaning.

While still living in North Wilkesboro, the couple had another son in December 1913, George Leonard Spease. George lived to adulthood and was living in Winston Salem in 1940.

Cora died in late January of 1916 from pregnancy complications and is buried in Stokes County. She was only 33 years old.
